As many of you know I am a husband, father and a Christian. I am also a principled conservative who loves his country!Over the last few years I’ve felt led to run for public office as I offered my name for service as county commissioner. I love Union County and appreciate all it has to offer. Unfortunately my campaigns weren’t successful but I certainly learned a lot from each one.Although losing wasn’t what I had in mind I wasn’t deterred by this. Rather I became even more involved in the issues that are important, not just to me, but to all citizens. For whatever reason, the good Lord used this simple man from Unionville, to take the flag and work towards a new law in North Carolina aimed at punishing child predators known as Jessica’s Law. I, along with other great conservatives, went all across this state pushing for this law. Along the way I ran into top state lawmakers who certainly didn’t think much of me or what we were doing. Bottom line, Jessica’s Law passed and was signed into permanent law by Mike Easley. Now, I’ve been working hard on a new bill, aimed at protecting our most innocent, our unborn. The Unborn Victims of Violence Law is to ensure that if someone harms the mother and the baby then they WILL be charged for two murders or assaults and not just one. But the pro-abortion leaders in Raleigh are fighting me hard.My friends, I tell you of my experiences, not to boast, rather to demonstrate my determination and leadership ability, because tonight I have an announcement. For some of you it will be met with disagreement but with others with enthusiasm. However, because you all like family to me I wanted to tell each of you first.During my last run for county commissioner my wife asked me why I didn’t run for state house? I thought long and hard and realized my passion is not in policy rather it’s in making laws. I certainly respect Curtis and didn’t want to run against him in 2008. However, now I feel led to do this. After prayerful consideration and blessings from my wife, family and boss, I am formally announcing my bid to become Union County’s next Republican for State House in District 68.Union County is one of the fastest growing counties in North Carolina and the time has come for us to become a force in North Carolina politics. Curtis is a good man but I feel my ideas and energy for this position are better right now. I promise to run a respectful and truthful campaign. I am prepared to become an effective, conservative legislator in Raleigh. I look forward to a great campaign!Thank you for your time and I certainly welcome your support as we move forward. God bless you, your family and our nation.
